Is there a reference anywhere that I can go and see what kind of single-block read latency I can expect from Oracle given a certain hardware configuration?
I can run a query to show the current performance (select * from V$SYSMETRIC_HISTORY where metric_id=2144 order by 1) but what I don’t understand is how to evaluate the result – what is “good” or “bad” given a certain set of hardware? And how would load impact that?
